Interactive lecture at our partner school: AI chatbots in use

We visited our partner school, Informatik-Campus BSZ Wiesau, again. Our colleagues Luca and Fabian gave an interactive presentation to give participants a practical insight into the world of IT. They began by talking about their career paths. They discussed interesting topics related to artificial intelligence and compared the logistics of the past with today's developments.

Then came the really exciting part: a demo project that taught participants about databases and SQL. However, the whole thing was not meant to be just a dry lecture on programming a complex logistics system. Instead, it was an interactive practical project covering a current topic that is easily accessible to young people: Ethe use of AI chatbots to rebook flights.

This project focused on providing innovative customer support for flight rebookings through the use of AI. Two AI-powered chatbot agents were introduced: Skye and JetCode.
Participants were asked to use these to solve specific tasks. They used a bot in the front end to enable users to rebook flights. The second bot was located in the back end and illustrated the programming in the background. These practical exercises gave participants a deep insight into how AI-supported IT systems work.

On the one hand, they learned how the two chatbot agents communicate with each other and process information. On the other hand, the demo project showed the challenges that can arise when programming such systems. The focus was particularly on the interaction between the front end and back end, as well as the importance of databases and SQL queries.

By working independently on real-world use cases, participants were able to gain valuable experience and a better understanding of the professional requirements in the IT industry. The presentation ended with an open Q&A session, during which Luca and Fabian shared their expertise. They also gave participants tips for their future career paths.
